Why a makeathon?
UNC entrepreneurship is thriving. Multiple makerspaces call UNC home. The AppLab promises to bring digital development into the 21st century. Social impact fuels conversations across campus. In response, The Makeathon aims to provide a cross-campus platform for innovative makers to meet, learn, and showcase their creations!
How does it work?
The Makeathon starts with team formation and design thinking workshops in January. Makeathon week is packed with specialty skill workshops and mentor office hours, and culminates in a “Shark-Tank-esque” competition where students pitch their prototypes before a panel of judges. See schedule below for more info!
How can I join?
We’re so glad you asked! Whether you are interested in becoming a student participant, skilled mentor, judge, sponsor, or are curious about being involved in any other way, we’d love to have you join our team! Please click the below link and drop us your contact details so we can stay connected on ways to be involved throughout this year.
What is it for?
Why do we do the things that we do? What do we do it for? Makeathon is more about the physical or digital product that you make but the change it can create. Intention of making a difference and how to implement lasting impact is a key in Makeathon and in life. Click below to learn more about how you can make a social impact at our first ever Makeathon!
